RACE DAY VOLUNTEERS
Join the excitement and feel the energy of thousands of participants by volunteering at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Race day individual volunteer opportunities include gear check, information team and Aid Stations. Keep participants motivated and organized as they embark on their 26.2-mile journey through Chicago.
All volunteers are required to register online individually by 11:59 p.m. (U.S. Central Time) on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Course Marshals
Course marshals ensure the course stays clear of spectator and vehicle traffic, and act as a source of information about the event and surrounding area. Course marshals will check in at a designated location in each neighborhood. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
Gear Check
Volunteers will work in the Gear Check facility where they will collect and organize gear check bags from participants before the race as well as returning those bags after the race. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older.
Information team
Volunteers assist race participants, spectators and other volunteers by providing general information, answering questions and giving directions to key destinations in Grant Park. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
Start Corrals
Volunteers will work in the start corral entrances and crosswalks leading up to the start of the race to regulate access into the corrals and control flow through the pedestrian crosswalks. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older.
Post-Race Party Beer Tent
Volunteers will be stationed at the beer tent at the 27th Mile Post-Race Party. Tasks include serving beer to participants ages 21 and over, as well as helping to keep the area clean and organized. Some volunteers will assist with ID checking for a portion of their shift. Volunteers must be 21 years of age or older.
Volunteer Rewards
All volunteers will receive volunteer reward points when they check-in to volunteer. Reward Points can be redeemed for a variety of merchandise items. To learn more, visit the Volunteer Rewards Program webpage.
