Kelvin was a once in a generation athlete at the front of his career and there is no doubt in my mind that his greatest achievements were ahead of him. We were lucky to witness his greatness on the streets of Chicago. While he will be celebrated for his record-breaking performances, I will remember him as an incredible talent and as an even more magnificent person. RECORD-BREAKING FIELD ANTICIPATED FOR 2024 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon will notify runners today of their selection status for the 2024 race. The excitement from this year’s record-setting event sparked unprecedented interest with more than 120,000 individuals applying for a chance to participate. Those who secure an entry into the race will join another record-breaking field with 50,000 participants expected to cross the finish line in Grant Park on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Individuals who are still hoping to participate can enter the field by joining an official charity team. Since 2002, the Charity Program has generated more than $322 million for local, national and global causes. In 2023, participants raised $30.4 million, the highest fundraising total in event history.

KELVIN KIPTUM SHATTERS WORLD RECORD AT 45TH RUNNING OF THE BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
Broken records were the theme of the day at the 45th running of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Headlined by a stunning new men’s marathon world record, the largest finisher field in event history included four course records and the race’s millionth finisher. Kelvin Kiptum (KEN) became the first man to run a sub-2:01 marathon in an officially sanctioned competition, breaking the tape in a world-record time of 2:00:35*. Course records fell in every professional division of the race, with Sifan Hassan (NED) setting a new women’s course record in 2:13:44, Marcel Hug (SUI) breaking his own record set last year in the men’s wheelchair race in 1:22:37 and Catherine Debrunner (SUI) writing her name in the race’s history books with a new women’s wheelchair course record of 1:38:44.

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2024 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON, CHICAGO 13.1 AND SHAMROCK SHUFFLE OPENS THIS MONTH
The teams behind Chicago’s premier racing portfolio announced registration information for the events that will make up the second annual Bank of America Chicago Distance Series. The Distance Series connects the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Chicago 13.1 and Shamrock Shuffle in a unique challenge that will reward participants who finish all three events in 2024 with an exclusive medal and guaranteed entry to the 2025 Chicago Marathon. Individuals interested in participating are encouraged to get their names in early to ensure they can take part in the series. Registration for the Chicago 13.1 and Shamrock Shuffle launched today with special discounted pricing. The four-week application period for the 2024 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will open on Tuesday, October 17.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON GENERATES RECORD-BREAKING $386 MILLION FOR CHICAGO ECONOMY IN 2022
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon continues to generate significant impact for the city of Chicago, with the 2022 race contributing a record-breaking $386 million (PDF) to the city’s economy, a 25 percent increase from 2021, according to an independent economic impact study conducted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Regional Economics Applications Lab.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon and Audacy’s 670 The Score (WSCR-AM) announced they have entered a multi-year agreement, with the station continuing as the official radio broadcast partner of the iconic event. The Score has been a media partner of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon since 2006.
