THE BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON ANNOUNCES EXTENDED MEDIA PARTNERSHIP WITH 670 THE SCORE
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon and Audacy’s 670 The Score (WSCR-AM) announced they have entered a multi-year agreement, with the station continuing as the official radio broadcast partner of the iconic event. The Score has been a media partner of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon since 2006.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON SET TO WELCOME 45,000 PARTICIPANTS FOR 45TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT
Today the Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced the return to 45,000 participants for the event’s 45th anniversary on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Runners who entered the non-guaranteed entry drawing for the 2023 race will be notified of their selection status today. Individuals still interested in participating can secure their place in the field by joining an official charity team. Since 2002, the Charity Program has generated more than $292 million for local, national and global causes, including the event record-breaking $27.6 million raised by participants in 2022.

CHEPNGETICH AND KIPRUTO CROWNED CHAMPIONS AS SISSON BREAKS AMERICAN RECORDS AT THE 44TH BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
In today’s 44th running of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, record performances and ideal race conditions set the tone for the day. Under sunny skies with cheers by enthusiastic spectators, 40,000 runners traversed 29 Chicago neighborhoods on their journey to becoming official marathon finishers. In the elite competition, Ruth Chepngetich (KEN) defended her title, running away from the field to become the second fastest woman in history. Compatriot Benson Kipruto (KEN) surged late in the men’s race to cement his win, running the fourth fastest time in Chicago’s history. American Emily Sisson crushed the American marathon record by 43 seconds, and Conner Mantz, making his marathon debut, became the seventh fastest man in U.S. history. In the wheelchair competition, Marcel Hug (SUI) broke the course record and Susannah Scaroni (USA) captured her first victory in Chicago as well as her first win in the Abbott World Marathon Majors.

THE BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON AND NIKE EXTEND OFFICIAL SPONSORSHIP THROUGH 2028
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today the extension of its official sponsorship with Nike through 2028. The official sponsorship will include the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle and the Bank of America Chicago 13.1, which make up Chicago’s premier racing portfolio. Nike has been the official footwear and apparel partner for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon since 2008.

CHICAGO’S PREMIER RACING PORTFOLIO RETURNS IN 2023 WITH THE DEBUT OF THE CHICAGO DISTANCE SERIES
Today the teams behind Chicago’s premier racing portfolio – the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Chicago 13.1 and Shamrock Shuffle – announced the debut of the Bank of America Chicago Distance Series. The Distance Series connects the three unique events that span the outdoor running season, from an approachable 8K to a world-class marathon. Individuals who finish all 2023 events will receive a unique Bank of America Chicago Distance Series medal and will be eligible for a guaranteed entry into the 2024 Chicago Marathon.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON TO WELCOME BACK A FIELD OF 40,000 PARTICIPANTS IN 2022
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced the field for the 2022 event is set to return to 40,000 participants after hosting a smaller field in 2021. Runners who entered the nonguaranteed entry drawing for the 2022 race will be notified of their selection status today. Individuals still interested in participating can secure their place in the field by joining an official charity team. Since 2002, the Charity Program has generated more than $265 million for local, national and global causes, including $21.4 million raised by runners in 2021. The 44th running of the race is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

THE APPLICATION WINDOW FOR THE 2022 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON OPENS TODAY
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced it is accepting applications for the 2022 event at chicagomarathon.com. The launch of the 2022 application continues Chicago’s return to racing and builds on the excitement seen over a week ago when 26,122 participants crossed the finish line in Grant Park. Next year will also mark the return of the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle and the long-awaited debut of the Bank of America Chicago 13.1. Registration for the Shamrock Shuffle kicks off today and the Chicago 13.1 will launch registration in January.

RUTH CHEPNGETICH AND SEIFU TURA CROWNED CHAMPIONS AT THE 43RD RUNNING OF THE BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
The 43rd running of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon race organizers and participants celebrated the return to in-person racing 728 days after its last finish line closed. Under cloudy skies and less-than-ideal race conditions, 26,000 participants traveled through 29 Chicago neighborhoods to make history as the Chicago Marathon is the first of the American Abbott World Marathon Majors to come back online after almost two years. The elite races crowned new champions as Ruth Chepngetich (KEN) ran away with the victory in 2:22:31 and Seifu Tura (ETH) accelerated to the finish in 2:06:12. Americans Emma Bates and Galen Rupp finished second in the women’s and men’s competition, highlighting the power of U.S. distance running.

TOP ATHLETES HEADLINE THE 2021 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON ELITE ATHLETE FIELD
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today that it will host some of the world’s best elite athletes as it prepares for the 43rd running of the event. In addition to previously announced Americans Galen Rupp and Sara Hall, Getaneh Molla (ETH), Seifu Tura (ETH), Ruth Chepngetich (KEN), Keira D’Amato (USA), and Emma Bates (USA) are among the stars headlining this year’s field. Local runners Chris Derrick (USA) and Lindsay Flanagan (USA) are also among the top athletes in this year’s field. Adding to the excitement, past champions Daniel Romanchuk (USA), Marcel Hug (SWI), Tatyana McFadden (USA), and Amanda McGrory (USA) will race for the victory in the elite wheelchair competition.

GALEN RUPP AND SARAH HALL HEADLINE 43RD ANNUAL BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON ELITE FIELD
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today that two-time Olympic medalist Galen Rupp and America’s second fastest female marathon runner ever, Sara Hall, will be at the helm of this year’s elite field, a year that marks a global comeback for the road racing industry. Rupp stands out as one of the most decorated runners on the track and in the marathon, winning the 2016 and 2020 U.S. Olympic Marathon trials and the 2017 Chicago Marathon; he is a five-time U.S. record holder, and eight-time U.S. 10,000 meter champion. Hall, a seven-time Olympic trials qualifier with ten national titles from the mile to the marathon, to her name, hopes to rewrite history by breaking the American marathon record, 2:19:36, set in 2006 by Deena Kastor.

Thousands of runners will kick off their 18-week training journey next week in preparation for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Race officials are working closely with the City of Chicago, including the Chicago Department of Public Health, to produce a safe and enjoyable experience for event attendees and the Chicago community. The Chicago Marathon is set to welcome 35,000 participants for the event’s return on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

THE BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON ANNOUNCES EXTENSION OF MEDIA PARTNERSHIP WITH NBC 5 CHICAGO AND TELEMUNDO CHICAGO
On the heels of announcing the planning of the 43rd running of the Chicago Marathon, today, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced they have entered into a multi-year agreement with NBC 5 Chicago / WMAQ and Telemundo Chicago / WSNS, continuing the stations’ role as the official English and Spanish television broadcast partners for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle, through 2023. NBC 5 Chicago has been a media partner of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon for the past 12 years. Telemundo Chicago joined the event as a media partner in 2017.

In today’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon, a record number of 45,786* runners crossed the finish line in Grant Park. Beneath a sun-splashed sky and ideal race temperatures hovering in the 40s, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon welcomed a diverse field of runners from 140 countries, all 50 states and all 50 Chicago wards. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon today announced that more than 11,000 runners raised an event record $22.7 million through the 2018 Chicago Marathon Charity Program.
