FIELD SELECTED FOR THE 42ND ANNUAL BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON WITH TODAY’S NON-GUARANTEED ENTRY DRAWING
Runners who entered the 2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon non-guaranteed entry drawing will be notified of their selection status today. The 2018 event welcomed a record 44,610 marathoners across the finish line, and a similar size field is predicted for the 42nd annual event on October 13, 2019.

APPLICATION PERIOD FOR THE 2019 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON OPENS OCTOBER 23, 2018
Today the Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced that it will start accepting runner applications for the 2019 event on Tuesday, October 23 at chicagomarathon.com.

SIR MO FARAH & BRIGID KOSGEI RACE TO SWIFT VICTORIES AT THE 41ST ANNUAL BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
In today’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon, more than 44,000* runners crossed the finish line in Chicago’s “front yard,” Grant Park. Beneath cloudy skies, and spotty rain –the first time since 2006 the Chicago Marathon welcomed a diverse field of runners from more than 100 countries, all 50 states and all 50 Chicago Wards. With the reinstatement of pacers and the assembly of a world-class field, this year’s event treated spectators to a variety of thrilling finishes.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON AND BIOFREEZE ANNOUNCE MULTI-YEAR PARTNERSHIP
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today that it has signed a new multi-year agreement with Performance Health, parent company of the leading external pain reliever, Biofreeze. Biofreeze will be designated as an Official Sponsor of the Chicago Marathon and the ‘Official External Pain Reliever’ for the event, beginning with the Oct. 7, 2018 race.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON SURPASSES RECORD, BRINGING MORE THAN $338 MILLION TO CHICAGO ECONOMY
The 40th anniversary of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon generated a record-setting $338 million in estimated business impact to the city of Chicago, with the 2017 race delivering a $56 million increase from the previous year. This is the largest amount ever generated by the marathon and marks the first time the marathon’s economic impact has exceeded $300 million. It’s the fifth consecutive year this world-class event provided more than a quarter of a billion dollars to the Chicago economy.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON AND SHEDD AQUARIUM TEAM UP TO MAKE STRIDES IN REDUCING SINGLE-USE PLASTICS

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is partnering with Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium to take on the issue of reducing single-use plastic pollution by joining the aquarium’s Shedd the Straw initiative for the 2018 Chicago Marathon on October 7. The partnership aims to reduce plastic use and encourage more sustainable alternatives for marathon participants, vendors and hotel and restaurant partners.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS TATYANA MCFADDEN AND MARCEL HUG LEAD ELITE WHEELCHAIR FIELD FEATURING 22 PARALYMPIANS FROM 10 COUNTRIES
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today that 15-time world champion, four-time Paralympic and eight-time Chicago Marathon champion, and course record-holder Tatyana McFadden (USA) and four-time Paralympian, 2016 Paralympic marathon and 800m gold medalist, and Abbott World Marathon Majors (AbbottWMM) Series X and Series XI champion Marcel Hug (SUI) will return to compete for the top spot on the podium at the 41st annual event.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today that defending champion Galen Rupp and American superstars Jordan Hasay, Amy Cragg and Laura Thweatt will be joined by a strong field of American runners at the 41st annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon. They will also go head-to-head with a mighty contingent of international athletes led by Mo Farah, past champions Abel Kirui and Dickson Chumba, 2017 runner-up Brigid Kosgei, and two-time third-place finisher and sub-2:20 runner Birhane Dibaba.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today that several international running stars are joining the 41st annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon elite athlete competition. Past champions Abel Kirui (KEN) and Dickson Chumba (KEN) lead the charge on the men’s side, and 2017 runner-up Brigid Kosgei (KEN) and two-time podium finisher Birhane Dibaba (ETH) stand out among the women. They will join previously announced global sensations Mo Farah (GBR), Yuki Kawauchi (JPN) and Suguru Osako (JPN).

OLYMPIAN AMY CRAGG AND 2015 U.S. CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPION LAURA THWEATT JOIN 2018 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON AMERICAN WOMEN’S ELITE COMPETITION
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today that two of the fastest women in U.S. history, Amy Cragg and Laura Thweatt, will join previously announced American Jordan Hasay to compete for the top spot on the podium at the 41st annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Cragg, a two-time Olympian, and Thweatt, the 2015 U.S. Cross Country champion and 2018 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K champion, make the 2018 Chicago Marathon the deepest American women’s field in Chicago’s storied history.

BOSTON MARATHON CHAMPION YUKI KAWAUCHI AND OLYMPIAN SUGURU OSAKO JOIN 2018 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON ELITE FIELD
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today that reigning Boston Marathon champion and “citizen runner” Yuki Kawauchi and 2016 Olympian and Nike Oregon Project runner Suguru Osako will join the elite competition as they both seek to become the first Chicago Marathon champion from Japan since Toshihiko Seko took the crown in 1986.

FOUR-TIME OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST AND SIX-TIME WORLD CHAMPION MO FARAH JOINS GALEN RUPP IN THE 2018 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON MEN’S ELITE FIELD
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today that four-time Olympic gold medalist, six-time world champion and five-time European champion Mo Farah will join the 2018 Chicago Marathon elite competition. In 2012, Farah became the first British athlete in history to win an Olympic gold at the 10,000m, and he is just the second athlete in history to pull off back-to-back gold medals in both the 5000m and 10,000m at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.

DEFENDING CHAMPION AND THREE-TIME OLYMPIAN GALEN RUPP AND AMERICAN MARATHON DEBUT RECORD-HOLDER JORDAN HASAY WILL RETURN TO RUN THE 2018 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced today that defending champion and two-time Olympic medalist Galen Rupp and American marathon debut record-holder Jordan Hasay will compete for top honors at the 41st annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 7. Last October, Rupp and Hasay became the first American duo to finish in the top three since Jerry Lawson and Kristy Johnston took home a pair of second-place finishes in 1996.

CAREY PINKOWSKI TO RECEIVE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FROM THE CHICAGO AREA RUNNERS ASSOCIATION
The Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) today announced Carey Pinkowski, Executive Race Director of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K, will receive the 2017 CARA Lifetime Achievement Award at the CARA Awards Party on February 3, 2018.
