Age requirement
We realize that the opportunity and experience of volunteering for an event can have a positive impact on children and young adults of all ages; however, for safety reasons, we require all volunteers to be 16 years of age or older on the day they volunteer. Please note that we do not permit children and young adults under the age of 16 to accompany registered volunteers who meet the age requirement. A Parent or Legal Guardian must complete registration for minors, volunteers under the age of 18.

Event safety
Each and every volunteer plays an important role in making the Bank of America Chicago Marathon a safe, world-class experience for participants, spectators and fellow volunteers. Closer to the event, volunteers will be given more information on how they can help us achieve this goal. Your cooperation is appreciated and expected. In the meantime, please review our volunteer guidelines.

All volunteers will receive a Chicago Marathon credential and jacket to be worn during their volunteer shift. Please check the weather, dress casually, and wear comfortable shoes. We recommend that you avoid bringing valuables and larger items (bags, backpacks, etc.).
