CHERUIYOT, GRIGORYEVA CAPTURE TITLES AT 2008 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
In only his second marathon, Kenya’s Evans Cheruiyot pulled away from fellow countryman David Mandago in the final two miles of the 31st annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon to win the men’s title in 2:06:25. On the women’s side, Russia’s Lidiya Grigoryeva won her first Bank of America Chicago Marathon title in 2:27:17. Fellow Russian Alevtina Biktimirova placed second in 2:29:32.

BANK OF AMERICA DEDICATES 2008 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON TO CHICAGO 2016
Continuing its tradition of supporting the U.S. Olympic Movement and in an effort to showcase Chicago’s expertise at staging world-class international sporting competitions, Bank of America announced today that it is dedicating the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon to the city’s candidacy to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The news was shared at a press conference attended by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, Chicago 2016 head of venues and game operations Doug Arnot and several Olympic marathon runners including Deena Kastor (USA), Kate O’Neill (USA) and 2008 Olympic marathon gold medalist Constantina Tomescu-Dita (ROU).

BERHANE ADERE AND DANIEL NJENGA RETURN TO BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
Bank of America today announced two-time women’s champion Berhane Adere (ETH) will attempt a first-ever three-peat at the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, while sixtime top-three Chicago finisher Daniel Njenga (KEN) looks for his first win in the Windy City. The additions of Adere and Njenga complete the elite field for the Oct. 12 race.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON SET FOR 31st RUNNING ON SUNDAY, OCT. 12
In preparation of its 31st running, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon has unveiled its plans for the 2008 race to be held on Sunday, Oct. 12. With the arrival of new title sponsor Bank of America and its long-term vision for the race, a new theme, several improvements and new programs will be introduced to enhance the event experience for runners, spectators and the greater Chicago community.

2008 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON ANNOUNCES ELITE FIELD
Bank of America today announced the elite field of male and female athletes scheduled to compete for the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon championship titles on Sunday, October 12. Topping the list is newly crowned Olympic women’s marathon gold medalist Constantina Tomescu-Dita of Romania and up-and-comer William Kipsang of Kenya who currently holds the 11th all-time fastest marathon finish time, fifth-fastest this year (2:05:49).

SPIRIT OF THE MARATHON TO RE-OPEN IN NEW YORK AND LOS ANGELES FOR ACADEMY AWARD CONSIDERATION
The International Documentary Association has selected Spirit of the Marathon as one of 20 outstanding documentary films, which will re-open in theatres in New York and Los Angeles for Academy Award consideration as part of the organization’s annual Docuweek. The acclaimed running documentary will play August 8-14 at 3:15 and 8:30 p.m. at the IFC Center in Manhattan and August 22-28 (times vary) at the Arclight Sherman Oaks in Los Angeles.

NBC5 CHICAGO NAMED NEW BROADCAST SPONSOR OF THE BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON
NBC5 Chicago today announced a new multi-year agreement with Bank of America to become the Official Chicago Broadcast Sponsor of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. As the Marathon’s exclusive broadcast partner for the next three years, NBC5 will provide televised and internet-based coverage of the event, as well as special pre-race programming.

2008 BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON REGISTRATION CLOSES AS RACE REACHES 45,000 PARTICIPANT CAPACITY
Bank of America announced today that registration for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon has closed as 45,000 runners have signed on to complete the 26.2-mile race, marking the event’s established capacity. A limited number of entries are still available through affiliated charities and tour groups.

NIKE JOINS BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON AS OFFICIAL FOOTWEAR AND APPAREL SPONSOR
Nike today announced a new multi-year agreement with Bank of America to become the official footwear and apparel sponsor of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, beginning with the October 12, 2008 race, as well as the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle. As an event sponsor for the next five years, Nike will provide the official merchandise for race participants, personnel and pacers, and will operate a comprehensive 17-week marathon training program in Chicago, beginning in June 2008, to prepare and motivate all participants.

BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON ANNOUNCES NEW NAME, NEW LOGO AND OPENING OF 2008 REGISTRATION
In its first official move as steward of the 30-year-old Chicago Marathon, Bank of America today announced the legendary race will have a new name and fresh look for 2008. The now-titled Bank of America Chicago Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 12 with registration for the first 45,000 runners opening at midnight (CST) on Friday, February 1.
