Cellmates On The Run

Why TEAM CELLMATES ON THE RUN?

Each year, more than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults – approximately 80 people per day – are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in the U.S and the rate of Type 1 Diabetes incidence among children under the age of 14 is estimated to increase by 3% annually worldwide. Living with T1D is a constant challenge. Everyday type 1 diabetics must carefully balance their insulin doses and monitor their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood six, or more, times a day. Imagine having to wake up numerous times a night to check your small child’s blood sugar…it’s not pleasant…and their life depends on you. We want to end this for all T1D’s and their families who struggle each day with this terrible disease. To do this, we need YOU, we can not do it alone. With our team, you’ll find the motivation to get you through every mile by training with others, pushing you to keep going, helping us toward a cure. 100% of the money you raise will go directly to where it is needed – to life saving research.

“Having ‘normal’ blood sugars is the greatest feeling. This is a gift, a huge gift. Miracles do happen and they are happening now. Thank you so much for the new life experience I am living.”
- Ed A. (islet recipient who previously required insulin injections.)

Fundraising

All CELLMATES runners must set a minimum $1000.00 fundraising goal, and give their best efforts to achieve (and hopefully exceed!) that amount. Once registration for the Chicago Marathon closes, CELLMATES will have a limited number of ‘post-close’ charity entries available. The $1000.00 fundraising commitment will be the REQUIRED MINIMUM for all ‘post-close’ entries. More details on your fundraising commitment are on the Cellmates On The Run Commitment and Waiver Form.
