Meet promptly at 9 a.m. in Grant Park. Your check-in location and additional race day specifics will be clarified by your Group Leader. All massage tables and supplies will be provided. Please wear your Cortiva polo shirt (or a professional looking polo shirt if you don’t have a Cortiva polo) and supportive footwear.
Lunch (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) will be provided. Although we are in a covered tent, it is strongly recommended that you bring your own snacks, water bottle and any other personal items you may want/need (i.e., sunscreen).
Cortiva Institute - Chicago Volunteers:
All graduates will receive a Certificate of Completion for 5 complimentary continuing education hours to be used toward the Illinois license requirement.
- Current Students: Learn along side your teachers and licensed grads by applying post-event massage to Bank of America Chicago Marathon participants, meet Cortiva graduates and be a part of the annual tradition of our school.
- Licensed Massage Therapists: Provide post-event massage to Bank of America Chicago Marathon participants. Cramp relief, stretching, body mobilization and other techniques will be performed. Be a mentor to current students going through the professional massage therapy program. You must fax a copy of your license to the Marathon office.
- Unlicensed Graduates: Although you will not be giving any hands-on work, you may help provide directional assistance in and outside the tent, monitor lunch area, distribute water to athletes, be runners between our massage tent and the medical tent, and other non-hands-on work as necessary.
