- Matthew Lavine, Crystal Lake, IL

"Sometimes we forget to thank the volunteers who support the organization and the runners.  I could not have finished if it wasn’t for the great set up and the continuous support during the race. The people of Chicago are certainly engaged!!! Congratulations and thank you again!"
- Lee Ann Travaglini,  London, Ontario, Canada

“I know that it takes time, planning, and people to put on the marathon, however, I have often said the Chicago Marathon would not be what it is today without all of the volunteers on the course, at the water stations and at the finish line, not to mention all they do in the months before the marathon!  I make it a point to try to thank the volunteers personally as I run past them during the marathon. I believe it is so important that they know how much they are appreciated.  I hope that I am just one of many marthoners who takes the time to personally thank the volunteer coordinators and the volunteers for all of their amazing work.  They keep us hydrated, offer a smile and a cheer and no matter how bad it seems during the race, they tell us we are doing a great job!”
- Meghan Hawkins, Chicago, IL

Water Volunteer - AS 13They tell us you are unforgetable!
"A big thank you to all volunteers and spectators. I'll never forget you hard work and high spirit"
- P. R., Chicago, IL

"Thanks to the people of Chicago, I PR'd by five minutes to get a 3:32. I could not have done this without their roaring support for the whole 26.2 miles; it really was humbling."
- M. U. , Houston, TX

“Your aid stations blew me away, they are so important to us runners and I must say, every single aid station was so well run, the volunteers so positive and well organized. I truly take my hat off to all of you for creating a special runner experience. Thank you!! ”
- John Savoie, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

"I also wanted to say what an incredible job your volunteers do. How many volunteers do you guys have for each edition of the marathon? Thousands, I am sure. The volunteers at the expo, handing out water during the race and helping runners at the finish were really incredible. The guy who gave me my medal after I crossed the finish line was asking each runner their name before putting the medal over their head, giving them a hug and telling them good job. That guy must have given out thousands of hugs (and medals) during the day. What a blessing to have people like that involved in your event."
- Jill Geer, Franklin, MA
